Celebrating 50 years of Methodism in Storrington

1960 - 2010

A programme of special events to celebrate this anniversary year has been organised and is shown below. You are invited to attend any of these events.

Monday 29 March to Thursday 1 April at 9:30am to 5:30pm - There will be a Holy Week Labyrinth in church. This is a chance to walk the Easter story, pause, reflect, think, and remember the work of Christ for us.

Saturday 8 May at 7pm - A 1960’s evening with David Jacobs, the well known radio personality, coming to share with us - a time for fun, laughter and togetherness, for all ages.

Sunday 16 May at 10:30am - A service of reunion for all those who have had important family times, baptisms, weddings, funerals, anniversaries, in our church over the years.

Sunday 23 May at 10:30am - Pentecost Sunday with guest preacher, Mrs Ruby Beech, Vice President of the Methodist Conference a few years ago.

Saturday 3 July - Christians in Storrington are organising a trip to the "Life of Christ" play at the Wintershall Estate. If you would like to come, please contact our Church Office.

Friday 24 September at 7pm - The Worthing Methodist Circuit will be joining us for a service of celebration.

Saturday 25 September and Sunday 26 September - A major Flower Festival and Craft Exhibition. The church will be open from loam to 6pm on Saturday and 2pm to 5pm on Sunday.

Saturday 25 September to Saturday 2 October - The church will be open 10am - 4pm for an Exhibition of Memories and displays of current work we are doing today. There will be an exhibition at Storrington Museum from Tuesday 5th October to the end of the year.

Sunday 26 September 10:30am - Together we celebrate our Harvest Festival and, at 6.30pm, an Ecumenical and Civic Service in the form of a Songs of Praise. The preacher will be the Rev. John Hellyer, Chair of the South East Methodist District.

Saturday 2 October at 4pm - Anniversary Tea. Baroness Rev. Dr. Kathleen Richardson, past President of the Methodist Conference, will be our guest and speak about life in the House of Lords. A commemorative tree will be planted in our garden before the tea begins.

Sunday 3 October at 10:30am - Anniversary Service with Baroness Rev. Dr. Kathleen Richardson, our preacher.

In the autumn of 2010, we are planning a major teaching series on Christian questions and answers called "Glad you asked". This will begin on a Tuesday afternoon from 2:30pm to 4pm from October 5, and on Saturday mornings from 9:30am to 11am from October 9.

In Advent 2010, the church will be launching a project of some sort to start our next 50 years. We hope that, even if you cannot physically come and join us this year, you will pray for us, thanking God for his travelling mercies on us since 1960, celebrating our current life together, and anticipating great things as we journey on.

There will be other special Sunday services through the year, which will be led by former ministers of our church. Details of these and any additional events will be announced on this web site month by month.

More information about any of these events can be found via our Church Office contact details - 01903 746390 and email: trinityoffice08@gmail.com

We look forward to seeing you!
